FAQ

I live 100 km outside the Kingston area, so in total how much is this going to cost me?

A: $50 call out Fee + $0.50/KM = $50 + $50 FINDERS FEE for the ring found Total is $150.00

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT FIND OUR LOST RING?

Unfortunately and I hate to admit it, but it does happen where I have gone to a search site and come out empty handed, this can be due to several factors such as the ring may have been found by someone else. However, we have an approximate %79 to %89 rate of success in total items recovered by our services

See our TIPS FOR FINDING LOST RINGS for how to be successful

So if we are unable to find you item, you would still need to pay the non negotiable $50 call-out fee and the mileage if outside the kingston area.

WHY DO WE CHARGE $0.50 /KM OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS?

well let me put this as simple as possible. Gas isn’t free folks, It costs me to get to a location and although I’d love to do this service at no cost. That just does not make business sense. So I only charge 1 direction to get to a location but please remember I also need to get back, so the calculation of $0.50/KM not only takes that into consideration but also allows for the fluctuating fuel prices on a daily basis.

I FIND YOUR SERVICES EXPENSIVE, ARE YOU ABLE TO NEGOTIATE YOUR FEES?

I completely understand the perspective of those who feel that a $150 tungsten ring might not justify the expense of hiring a service, especially since recovery could cost $100 to $150 or more.

However, it’s important to remember that this ring may hold sentimental value, perhaps belonging to a loved one who has passed away. Similarly, a small, inexpensive gold engagement or wedding band may carry deep personal significance beyond its scrap value.

In order to locate these lost items, significant resources—both in terms of finances and time—are necessary, along with access to thousands of dollars worth of specialized equipment.

That being said, we recognize that not everyone can unexpectedly afford this type of service. We encourage you to reach out to us for a discussion about your options.

we are not out to gouge people but we are not into paying out of pocket to find someone’s else’s lost items either.

II HAVE FOUND OTHER SERVICES CHARGE LESS WILL YOU MATCH THEIR RATES?

While we may not be the cheapest recovery service on the market, we don’t aim to be. Our focus has been on providing our clients with the best value for their hard-earned money, while also recognizing the worth of our service to our detectorists.

Before starting this service, I was part of another recovery operation. My motivation for launching this service wasn’t due to any shortcomings of the previous one; in fact, there are many reputable and experienced detectorists in that industry who deliver excellent results. However, I found that the payment structure for the detectorists was often vague and placed too much control in the hands of the customers regarding expected compensation once an item was recovered. This sometimes resulted in long hours spent trying to help someone recover a lost item—occasionally valued at thousands of dollars—only to be offered a mere $20, which felt unappreciative and left me feeling undervalued and barely able to cover my gas expenses.

To address this, I’ve structured our services to ensure fairness for everyone involved. This is the rationale behind our pricing, and therefore, we will not be able to match the rates of other similar services.

HOW FAR WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR A RING RECOVERY?

This is a good question, I’m not sure, I live in the Kingston area and so far I have travelled as far as 2.5 hours away for a recovery. we do have a vast reach of detectorists throughout the province ( and even Country) to which we could suggest other great detectorist recommendations, this is why I have added several other reputable detectorists throughout the province in order to cover as many areas with the lowest possible cost for our customers. I am constantly adding detectorists to help cover more areas. The individuals on this site are hand picked and come highly recommended.

I think to be honest I myself will try to stay between Brockville and Sandbanks and everywhere in between for the most part. This is the area I do most of my recoveries. And is cost effective for me and my clients. However, to answer your question. I have travelled as far as Thunder Bay Ontario (1800km) and successfully recovered a lost set of wedding rings. We now have someone in Thunder Bay so I won’t need to do that again lol.
